Trailer—Eliminators

I basically bought this movie with the idea it was complete garbage, so I could mock it as it played. As it turns out, it's actually decent! I'm not saying -good-, but certainly not the worst movie. If I were to explain, it's a movie about a cyborg, a ninja, Tasha Yar, and a guy doing a Han Solo impression teaming up to fight a time-travelling Roman cyborg who has a shield that shoots lighting force-fields at people. If that doesn't sound a -little- cool, I got nothing to say to you. Again, it's not a particularly good movie, but had I watched this when I was 9-12 years old, it would've blown me away. That's my recommendation. It's a good 80s action flick for the kids. They'll like it, and you needn't worry about heavy violence or swearing.

An android ('mandroid' actually), a riverboat captain, a military scientist, her cute robot and a ninja track down a renegade scientist in the wilds of Mexico who wants to travel back in time in a mandroid suit to ancient Rome and become an emperor. Among the personable cast in the movie I particularly liked Andrew Prine as the seedy, unshaven captain and Roy Dotrice as the villainous Abbot Reeves. The 'mandroid' suit and vehicle are well and plausibly constructed. There are also some lively explosions. It's good to see good physical effects. The script by Paul De Meo and Danny Bilson despite juggling varied elements is pleasantly entertaining and keeps one's attention to the end. Not a classic film but not deserving the 4.8 score on IMDB.

When you're 14 years old, you can't yet comprehend that a movie can be a bad. Seeing the Mandroid rolling around, knowing that a ninja was in this movie, I lost my mind and couldn't wait to see it. But when you're 14, you often are at the mercy of your family's viewing choices (look, it was a different world in 1986. We only had one TV to watch movies on). I would have to wait 31 years to see this film and I can honestly tell you — it is a complete piece of crap. It's an entertaining piece of crap, though. I came across this movie purely by accident (part of a DVD collection of 80's fantasy/sci-fi movies). Watched it last night on my home theater. Watch it, if you have the chance, because it's one of the most interesting low-budget films of the 1980's. This movie has everything: a "mandroid" Terminator-type robot, a gutsy female robotics expert, a Humphrey Bogart/African Queen boat captain, a Ninja warrior, Neanderthal cavemen, an R2D2 clone, southern rednecks (wait till you see "Bayou Betty"!)---and a villain cyberneticist whose real ambition is to travel back in time and become a Roman Emperor! Surprisingly everything holds together very well, and from beginning to end it definitely keeps you entertained. It's a great family film, with action for the kids, and just enough intelligence and wit to make it interesting for the adults. One of the best if not the best "80's B movies". Watch it!

Tell me if this plot doesn't excite you; a cyborg who has rebelled against his creator must team up with the scientist who's technology created him, a martial artist with a katana and a river boat pilot to stop the evil scientist form turning himself into a cyborg and going back in time to conquer ancient Rome. Isn't that the most insanely awesome thing you ever heard? Paul De Meo & Danny Bilson (The Rocketeer, Arena, The 80s Flash TV series, Zone Troopers) are great are creating sci-fi movies with a pulp fiction-y flavour to them and this film is no exception. Aside from that the effects are…decent, the action is great, the acting alternates between good and hammy, and the story is fun. Check it out.

This movie gets great when the team is assembled, but that takes almost an hour to happen. Everything else is a low rent indiana jones ish knock off that only occasionally works . That said, the mandroid is tremendous.

This movie is a mish-mash of B-movie elements. You have time travel, you have cyborgs, you have Denise Crosby Side-Boob. So the plot is a mad scientist intends to travel back in time and use his advanced technology to remake the Roman Empire in his own image. He uses time traveling cyborg John Doe, who rebels against his programming and finds Denise Crosby to enlist her help. They are joined by a bad Indiana Jones knockoff and a worse Kung Fu knockoff. But as the sum of its parts, it's kind of a fun movie to watch. Considering they had no budget and few good actors, they kind of did okay with it. Enjoy it for what it is, B-movie 1980's cheese.

Saw this recently for the first time in over a decade....I think the movie deserves a higher rating than the one currently on the IMDb. Some of the effects are great considering the budget (the only exception being the poorly realised 'SPOT' robot). Andrew Prine & Roy Dotrice were great fun, and the script was both funny and pretty well structured. Perhaps if the movie had received a PG rating rather than a 15 in the UK, people wouldn't be so down on it, as this is at heart good family entertainment for all ages.....7/10

Rated as a movie, this deserves about a 2. Rated by how much fun you will have watching it, it deserves about a 7. If it took itself seriously it wouldn't be much fun, but fortunately it has a light touch. A man who is half machine, the "mandroid" John Doe, goes on a quest to find and kill the mad scientist who installed the half-machine part. Joining him are a scientist (Denise Crosby), an R2D2 wannabe, an Indiana Jones wannabe, and a ninja! Along the way, there are boat chases, a barroom brawl, inept bad guys, Roman soldiers, and goofy physical comedy. Roy Dotrice makes a fun villain. If it sounds like it might be fun to you, give it a try.
