Troubled TV personality Steven Evans struggles to find meaning in his life in the face of the superficial world he has created. Smothered by celebrity and materialism, Steven's only respite is through solitary visits to the ocean and shallow sexual encounters with the acquaintances that orbit his life. When his long-term partner hurls him headfirst into fatherhood, Steven's initial reluctance is gradually replaced with love, as he discovers, in his new family, a bond stronger than any he has experienced before. But the return of an unexpected visitor triggers off a series of events that thrusts Steven and his family into a cycle of loneliness, self-destruction and grief.

The Dream Children (2015) is a homoerotic film from Australia? Whoa, this is crazy. I have to admit it was very intensively hot physically intimate making this film to another level. I watched few homoerotic -themed films before but not like this and this definitely must be included in the top five on my homoerotic list, I'm sure you too. 😍 Unpopular opinions here that this film is not enough to try to explore deeper about how to adopt legally. Such as I want to know how the process is, I want to know what files/documents are needed. Hidden education is a big opportunity that is missed here. I know and I understand that there is social/religious indoctrination, etc, but it feels like they just jump in to "let's do the illegally way" without suffering or emotional despair in between. The resolution of the character Steve the closeted TV host was also too quickly resolved after a severe internal conflict. And that makes the acting is less believable or realistic. Last, a touch of sadness that is unnecessary on their faces at the end of the film destroys all the optimism mood they build, making me question whether all the things that are done really ends well? Anyway, ignoring all parts of harsh comments this film is worth watching and is highly recommended. Liked the gay gestures, they nailed it. Good job.

I watch many gay themed movies, and to be honest I was never too impressed with what Australia has to offer in that field (compare to say, Brazil, France or French-Canada). But this film is different. The subject matter is - surprisingly - a post-gay marriage dilemma, which involves adopting and raising kids as a gay couple. In some countries - such as Spain, Canada, USA & Israel in particular - gay adoption or surrogacy is not a new topic. However, in Australia it is, I feel, it is still a 'hot potato' issue, especially after watching this important film. I have to note that the actors in this film are very well casted. It's unusual to see two very attractive, mascular, straight acting guys playing a gay couple. They were very well placed and it helped the movie a great deal to bring this topic forward. (note - I admit I did not expect such intensive and convincing intimate scenes - it was very refreshing and honest, certainly from an Australian film). I would highly recommend viewing this film as it is relevant and very well executed.

It's not an usual movie, it has a unique plot... a gay couple who re trying so hard to have a baby , adopting a child from a desperate young woman, who's return with a dangerous new boyfriend, threatens to destroy everything and abusing her. I believe it is a worth watching movie, Alex and Steven are both very handsome and they fit perfectly together. The scenes with them are full of affection and love, they re very good actors and made a great job. If you have time give it a chance. It is a very good attempt to make a beautiful and excellent movie, if it was succeeded is up to you.

Good looking actors, but didn't find the acting believable. I think the writer needed to do more research before writing the lines and screens. The reactions, lines and behavior weren't sensible or realistic. Liked the basic story line.

Australian gay drama about a hunky, good looking, straight acting, successful gay couple who desperately want a child. The two leads are very good actors and totally convincing as a non-stereotypical gay couple. Lots of drama and uncomfortable scenes unfold after they get involved with a very troubled pregnant woman who doesn't want her child. The ending makes a political statement about the legality of gays adopting. High production values and very believable acting. At times, it was almost too real. Likeable characters except....please STOP the smoking. It's unhealthy and low class!!!! It's rare that gay characters are portrayed as non-smokers.
