To the other guy saying about fake reviews, dude its filmed in a tiny town where the people living there ran to IMDB to do a review after watching this film and probably watched some bits filmed too. this movie is wicked, its refreshing and different and didnt cost 100 million, also its got the late Lizzie from emerdale and dr ormrod from the royal so it aint that bad lol but i wont spoils it for you but its well worth watching

FAKE reviews here by the busload.However it really is easy to spot them!!! If you see a several reviews which rate a movie highly then you also see a review which rates very low,its obvious that the LOW review would be the genuine one!!! There wouldn't be any point in voting a decent film with low score.No point.even for the trolls. This movie could have been made for peanuts by a bunch of children with a mobile phone.....yes really. The story line is non existent.The editing and cohesion of story is quite pathetic. No horror/acting/effects/scares/twists/ Its a classic found footage bunch of flashing lights/blurry images and stupid dialogue for stupid people.NO SPOILERS NO POINT...TRUST ME.

This is an old fashioned classic thriller obviously made with much love. We got to see it as a first showing at the London Frightfest and it stood out head and shoulders above the other showings. More Jacques Tourneur than blood splatter. More squeezing as much as you can from the budget than Hollywood blockbuster. But the lack of cash has made the director pull out all the stops and the movie doesn't have to rely on gimmicks or jump scares. Rather it's clever and 'in your head'. This of course makes it even more creepier. Like a whisper that you just can't make out. Great slow burn with an interesting back story. It's quite a unique movie with, at times, outstanding cinematography. The sound track is tremendous and proves that the whole is so much more than the sum of the parts. Go see. You won't be disappointed.

But a film masquerading as horror on Netflix? That I pay for? It's almost as though students had been tasked to work out how horror films makers perform jump scares and other clichés. Really poor, predictable, terrible acting, the lead character (male) one of the most unlikeable characters I've come across since James Corden. Absolutely nothing of any merit to write about and certainly nothing original other than the nuclear war theme which doesn't really have a huge bearing on the film as a whole. How this made its way onto Netflix is beyond me.

Thoroughly enjoyed the preview screening I saw a few weeks back, it was refreshing to see a British take on the genre. Believable characters with a genuine reason for CCTV cameras to be in place to counter the hand-held shots, nice location work and excellent sound mixing/editing to compound the atmosphere/scares make it one of the better found footage horror films of recent times. Make sure you see it with a good sound system for maximum effect. It's also good to see characters acting with rationality, instead of highly unlikeable idiots with iphones running about wildly (looking at you Area 51/Bigfoot Chronicles) despite the supernatural occurring around them. Well worth a watch for any FFH buff.

I love the horror genre. I especially love that it has made something of a resurgence over the past decade. Horror is smart, artistic and very much maligned by film academia. For almost 20 years horror genre lovers were left out in the cold by the movie industry and the genre has finally been given the place it deserves (at the top of the list for ratings, box office, artistry and innovation). With such a resurgence comes the ability for first time movie makers and those working to small budgets the opportunity to delve into the genre's murky waters and get their feet wet. These small budget horrors should receive plaudits not just because the work is of interest but because the struggle from concept to screen is extraordinary and arduous. The Unfolding is one of those movies. You can tell from the very opening sequence to its very dying breath that this movie was a labour of love. It brought together a cast of unknowns (in every field) and created a piece of work that stands up against its multi-million dollar counterparts and in some instances outshines them. As with all good horror movies the score is everything and The Unfolding's score is magnificent and becomes a character in its own right. The imagery, performances and direction are also to be commended and as an initial foray into the genre Eugene McGing should be especially applauded. I don't scare very easily but there were moments during this movie that were genuinely chilling.

I don't think there's a horror film that me and my wife hasn't seen in the past 10 years (maybe more as she's a real addict). If you are looking for a film that is truly scary, this is the one for you... lights off and be prepared for some jumpy moments I have given this film 10 / 10 - I have never seen my wife scream and jump like she did several times whilst watching this film... she and I both loved it. Great story line, acting and as I say the scares are phenomenal... even if I did have to escort my wife to the loo three times last night Hope the director sticks to this Genre and replicates the success he has achieved in this film.

What's unfolding is my attention with this dross. "An exciting and relevant new take on the Haunted House story." Who said this? Was it the mother of the writer? This film is duller than a 3W bulb. Found footage certainly isn't a new take, neither are jump scares. You get a lots of stuff happening off screen, and not a lot happening on screen. I agree with what another reviewer said. Methinks the good reviews were written by friends and family of the cast and crew. I ended up turning it off, so no idea if there was an amazing twist, and I don't care either.
