The movie is well shot and acted. It isn't too deep, but yet it leaves you chilled. A man sacrificed his career and life for truth and should be an inspiration to true journalists. Stalin made femine in Ukraine is still a very underreported human tragedy.

The most dengerous thing is to forget our history, and such movies help a lot!

Masterpiece by Agnieszka Holland. About truth and falsehood. About politics and humanity. About the media. About the cruelty of ideology. Check it out. Although it does not fill you with optimism. Like a Greek tragedy. A true one.

This is a must watch. A chocking and important film about the Soviet regime's man made hunger in Ukraine - Holodomar. If you know about the Holocaust you must also know about Holodomar, as they are awfully similar in many ways. This can also explain why Ukraine is very against being invaded by Russia as I write this in March 2022. Imagine Germany invading Poland again in 2022. That's the equivalent. Given this history, you'd understand just how problematic.

A very good movie which refers to the brutallity of Stalin's regime. I didn't know about this events and I was shocked at first. This movie shows with an objective way, in my opinion, the Holodomor and generally the situation in Soviet Union when Stalin was thee bellwether. The actors gave us amazing performance and the plot will incite your interest. So I definately recommend. You will true history. Also,is based in real life.

Too bad during the pandemic most people will miss it. It's not going to be a fan favorite to those who rally for tyrants be it countries run by dictators or Americans states run by rich politicians and Hollywood elites.

Mr Jones Is the true story of Welsh journalist Gareth Jones who exposed the famine in the Ukraine that killed millions during Stalin's reign. While 'Fake News' as a term is relatively new the concept is not and is used by governments all over the world and at many times throughout history, this film is a timely reminder to never believe everything, even from reputable sources. Great performances and some nice cinematography. particularly in the Ukraine scenes. A little bit slow to start but once it got going it was excellent.

One of those rare films that makes you realise how little we know of history and how people have been so cruel to other people. Its about power and fear, a mixture that is a violent cocktail of how poor our world really is in terms of kindness, truth and basic human decency. This story makes you want to seek some form of retribution of those who created such a tragic situation - and then you realise its still happening today all over the world - that we are still living in terrible times and that we are definitely not doing enough to stop destroying ourselves. Outstanding performances from the cast with some excellent cinematography bring this tragic story to life - one to watch again but not until I've recovered from the sense of helplessness - which didn't stop brave men like Gareth Jones from doing what's right - even at the risk of losing his own life. A must watch.

I know some of the history of the era. This movie portrays the stark reality and attitudes of the times in a thoughtful way. This probably has to do with its Polish production background, rather than a direct Hollywoodesque attempt to portray this story. There is something very special about this movie that is rarely and properly captured by many modern production houses.

For anyone looking for a gripping historical thriller of Europe in the 1930's - this is a must see. From the halls of power in Chamberlain's London to the halls of power in Stalin's Moscow, a story unfolds drawn from the real life of a young Welsh diplomatic attache/turned reporter named Gareth Jones (James Norton). Jones' desire to investigate the USSR's mysterious source of cash for their worldwide industrial spending spree turns into a fast-paced, life and death series of events that include a trip into the wintry hell of starving Ukrainian villagers, the debauched revelry of foreign journalists in Moscow, international blackmail, and what it means to uphold the cause of truth and justice against all odds. Outstanding performances by James Norton as Gareth Jones, the main protagonist and Peter Sarsgaard as the Pulitzer prize winning (and since discredited) journalist Walter Duranty. Looking forward to watching it again with friends!
