Overall a fine documentary. I just wish BBC here as in many other documentaries would be more willing to let us know from where these documentaries are made. Greenland is a vast place. West and East are very different. The sleds, for instance are different, the amount of dogs used to pull are different numbers.... Please, let us know from which destinations you show.!!!! It makes sense to let us know the location. As for you out there who dislike sealkilling, you have not fully comprehended, that even today - 2022 - it might be a way of surviving. Traditional food, even today is primarily marinefood - study and you will learn about that. The reason for overweight and lifestyle healthproblems to-day is mainly unhealthy pre-fabricated food from western kitchens - not native food from the sea - as seals for instance. All is eaten in a seal, and goes a long way. As for the igloos, it must be a romantic idea from the producers, that igloos have a place in the culture to-day. I have never seen one around. The film is certainly slow, nice and beautiful, because the place is so beautiful. The film The Last Hunter shows some af the same environment and tells the story of a dying profession : hunting. This film does some of the same and it deserves attention. My guess about this film location is Tasiilaq/Ammassalik. I lived there !

This came on BBC2 just as I was thinking of going to bed, 2 hours later I was still glued to the TV. This documentary was utterly captivating. The hunter was engaging and really dragged you into his life, his life was so different it was hard not to be fascinated and the cinematography was beautiful and absolutely out of this world, a stunning watch on a good TV, this is what 4K/HDTV's were made for. I was just really pleased he didn't manage to catch a seal, as I fully expected them to show him killing it.

A stunningly beautiful film about a fast disappearing way of life. I love this film as it shows a skilled hunter at odds with the encroaching modern world reliant on centuries old traditions and relationships with man's best friend, teams of dogs to power his sleight. Like I said the documentary is not about him always catching anything it's showing him in his natural environment and the difficulties he faces as a skilled hunter in a changing world. The ultimate point of the documentary is to show him building an igloo. There must be a reason that the native people who have a gazillion names for snow , only need one type of snow to build an igloo. Don't let this knowledge die out!!! Some you win some you lose it's about survival in a hostile harsh environment. I just hope he wins more battles than he loses as I am rooting for his way of life to continue despite everything.

Shovels and dogs no grimness just survival. Makes me want to have my grandparents back, but it's a totally different environment

Minimalistic yet so full of overwhelming powerfull images. Everything is so quiet you can almost feel the slow heart beats of the main character. You recognize the sad, depressing vanishing huning era wrapped in easy native inuite words. The landscapes are so largely breathtaking you can actually feel the main character beeing squized to a singularity. So well spotted at the movie end, in the actic darkness, a long gone colapsing light from the past history. You will feel at the end that this is really the last igloo, a sort of modern last supper before going extinct. So introspective. Highly recomended.

Beautiful movie, soundtracks, scenery. As much as the life of the main character could be simple, it is filled with nature, with loneliness, with ancesters life experiences. I don't see the sadness in the movie, I see the experienced and peaceful life. Incredibly nice movie.

Beautiful film and potentially interesting way of life, but the film itself comes of inauthentic, not only is the main person the worst hunter of all times only catching one mesly uneatable fish the whole documentary. But his claim an Igloo just takes 1 hour to build and then 3 weeks later its finally finished makes the documentary. Not sure what story the BBC wanted to tell, but why isnt the hunter catching anything. Documentary seems very inauthentic and shallow, not worth the time.
