"Josefine Mutzenbacher" is one of several films about the character listed in the title, among the earliest and maybe the second most famous today. It is a co-production between Austria and West Germany from 1970 already, so this German-language film will have its 50th anniversary soon. The director is Kurt Nachmann and that is not surprising because he worked on many trashy sex comedies back then. This one of his more known works. What is maybe a bit surprising is that this is based on the literary works of Felix Salten as he is also apparently the creator of Mambi and can you think of a bigger range in repertoire than between the innocent little deal and the genital-hungry Central European *? I know I can't. Definitely umm.. impressive!? But we shall speak about Bambi on another occasion. When kids are reading. The title character here is played by Christine Schuberth and she is mostly known today for her work in the long running German approach to Orange is the New Black, but has also played in several other well-known shows from Austria and Germany. Her film here runs for roughly 1.5 hours with credits and is packed of all kinds of sexual, occasionally sensual scenes. And not all is slutty, there were actually also some scenes in here that were handled tastefully. And there even is a bit of a plot with a twist at the ends, that was not really surprising though. And comedy plays a big role as it does in so many German sex comedies from the 1970s. So overall, there's way worse entries to the genre out there, but still if the film had its enjoyable moments here and there it is at best convincing for the kind of film it is, not from a general perspective. I give it a thumbs-down and it is pretty much on par with the other more known Mutzenbacher film I have seen. This one here may have the slightly better writing and story while the other from slightly afterward has the hotter protagonist. Your choice which one to go for. Skipping both is definitely also an option. Oh yeah, the song you hear in the first and last seconds in here is great fun too and summarizes the tone of the film nicely with its lyrics.

Yes, I tried to watch it twice. Yes, chicks ugly, men behave like idiots, plot specifically trying to prove that propaganda is more important than reality. Strangely a lot of actors of all ages involved for unknown reason. Yeah, D'Amato still the best.
