Here's the outline: the bellboy wants to be a private investigator so he's reading a book about it, and decides to practice on hotel guests. A group of women check in that represent a lingerie manufacturer. The bellboy poses as a buyer to "investigate" them. The girls model their wares, with special attention to how easily they can be removed. Lots of T&A and not much else. When released in the '60s, this was the sort of thing shown in "adults only" movie theaters full of cigarette smoke and men wearing raincoats. In fact, the contents are pretty tame by today's standards - you could almost show it on PBS if it had any intellectual pretensions at all. The only copy I've seen was an '80s VHS release. Being an unimportant movie in German, the audio is dubbed, and dubbed poorly. Video quality suggests a really old print or perhaps even 16mm.

I had already viewed years back the 1958 German sex comedy,"Mit Eva Fing die Sunde an", guessing what the actors talking about which had looked like Karen Dior character was complaining how stupid her role was on the local community theater portraying a women who is afraid to consume her honeymoon and Fritsch trying to get her not to quit.I finally go to see this newly restored reedited, American released now on Blu ray 3d.I was hoping that the 3d archives would put the German language back with subtitles with the English language side,but ,thinking about that now with the American footage this would create confusion,since it suppose to suggest that it's in the u.s.This version was half edited to make the new American color footage including the 3D shots.Now when I first saw the 3d shots it was in that 3d compile,but, it was the g rated side of the shot.It is a nudie cute.Not all the bad .Since the original picture was good with it's original German language, adding the extra footage made it a little better.I discovered it turned out that Karen Dior's character is in a play about her deciding to sleep with her boyfriend before marriage .The actress is a prude and does not like the role. Madi Rhal would love to take the actresses role away and turn the whole play into a sexy comedy ,but, Willy rejects that as the director.The discussion of sex in a German film in the late fifties were more progressive than Hollywood films discussions of sex at the time ,more subdued.The dubbing made it more understandable to me what was going on.It was half edited to the new footage.The music number was edited and was muted by the American dubbed narrators,since the American company did not want to dubbed the musical number,probably cause of the expense. The color footage concerns an ambitious Bellboy , played by Don Kenney, who also works as a part time lighting technician at the German theater,without a visa, who is studying to be a detective to win all the girls.He is suspicious that in a certain room in the hotel a prostitute ring is going on headed June Wilkinson and her workers Gigi Martine ,Ann Perry,Laura Cummings and a few other models.It turns out that they are just selling women's underwear putting on a little show to the clients to buy it.The funniest part was the strip poker sequence when Kenney is in invited to play with the girls then leaves when he has to take ll his cloth off for them.Another kind of humorous scenes is when he mistakes them shooting a stag films when it's a t.v commercial for the underwear. When the 3D comes in it includes the topless nudity .Women's breast popping out,although not one the size of Candy Samples.You never see June Wilkinson exposes her bear self ,flat or 3D, cause she was as old as Tracy Lord was when Tracy was caught doing xxx adult movies at age 17,which is illegal.Francis Ford Coppola decided just to reveal her cleavage ,since that was legal. The extant print that was used was not as good as the German print for the other film separately,which was sharp and high grain.This edited version was not.Part of the collection is the second or last film in the early sixties to be shot in natural vision 3D was Adam and Six Eves which I will review - - - - back to here. Also included a 1951 collection of Kodachrome 3d female nudes slides that came out in 1951.Boy those women are either dead or 150 years old by now and a burlesque short with a * name Bella Starr a red head in Black and white. Plus a dance team a man and a women in Love for sale ,1953,which is a dance showing the conflict of love for the money or just being in love.From Kino Lorber restored by Bob Furmanek and the 3D archive. 10/29/19

George the bellboy aspires to be a private eye and be popular with women. Women scares him. He sneaks into a nearby playhouse to watch how an experienced director handles women. He suspects a group of beautiful women staying in the hotel as professionals. He starts snooping. The girls turn out to be lingerie models. This is most notable for being partly directed by student filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. The movie can be divided into two parts. One is a black and white German film of low quality and nothing worthwhile. The second is a color nudie film that Coppola helped direct. The black and white part is a grind. The dialogue is hopelessly clunky. The historical fantasies are boring. There are some interesting aspect like George breaking the 4th wall but non of it is compelling. The color nudie is with Playboy bunny June Wilkinson and a bunch of buxom women. George is being played like a Don Knotts character. It's basically a student nudie film and that's what it looks like. Everybody has to start somewhere and this is where Coppola started.
