Although this movie is said to be based on real events, the closing credits say it is fiction. I certainly hope so. This is a comedy, sort of. It's very dark and not the sort of thing I really enjoy, but it has its moments. We hope Connor will end up with Alice, but obstacles get in the way. I'm not sure how the movie ends. I never feel like we had a complete story. What I enjoyed probably more than anything else was the black and white footage of the old days in Atlantic City, which is seen a lot at the movie's start alternating with destruction, and then occasionally later. Even the black and white footage later in the movie includes a spectacular implosion of a large elegant looking hotel that apparently someone didn't care enough to save. But we did see an effort to save The Elephant Building, whatever that is. There is also color footage of a major fire, and more footage of what is apparently a hurricane. And some Miss America contestants. I only saw one clue as to how old any of the footage was, and that was a '61 Dodge. There is also one pleasant scene with people on the beach as Connor is basically doing nothing. I think we need that. Fun on the beach is a big part of those home movies. Connor is a nice guy but tough when he has to be. James Carpinello makes us like him and hope he will eventually have some good luck. Dawn-Lyen Gardner is very appealing and attractive and we want to root for her as well. LIndsey Blackwell is adorable. The actors playing the Chechens are very different. One comes across as insane and the other is sensible. While we don't see what kind of musical talent Nicoye Banks has, we do know one of his talents is acting. He's not quite what one would expect. On the subject of music, there were two main types. Rap and alternative rock. Neither one appealed to me. It's Atlantic City! I saw photos of the Rat Pack. Where's their music? Not even with the black and white footage? I definitely wouldn't call it family friendly. Sometimes a character's mouth was blurred and sometimes body parts were, and some body parts were creatively hidden. Is this movie any good? Probably.
