This was very engaging due solely to the performances and personalities of the two leads, Sara Rue and Jordan Bridges. In addition to their talents, they had excellent chemistry together. Sara Rue is just a delight. And she has been a delight in everything I have seen her in. She radiates warmth and humor that seems to come not only from her acting, but from her real personality. She may be a real rhymes with witch for all I know, but if she is, she is a witch with a ton of charisma. Jordan Bridges is another favorite, and he was particularly good in this. The decision to give him a beard was genius. Somehow, it adds to his power and intimidating persona which makes it even more enjoyable to see Sara worm her way under his skin. As she slowly charms him out of his stubborn attitude, and he gives her a fresh perspective as well, they fall in love. And it is a pleasure to watch. The story is all Hallmark. Vikki manages a community garden that Chace is buying in order to tear it down and make way for the condominium he is building. We see the conflict from both sides. They are both justified in their position so its a matter of finding a compromise, not one side seeing the light and changing their minds. Of course, the viewer sees the solution long before the two combatants do. When we note that there is 20 minutes to go and Chace heads to the roof of his office building to have a think after he and Vikki seem irretrievable at odds, we think "at last!" after mumbling "roof top garden, dummies," from the couch from the half hour mark on. The well drawn secondary characters add to the likability of this movie, and keep the rather well-worn plot fresh and involving.

The issue of affordable home development v maintaining community is one many can relate but some gentle humour offsets the tension. There's a good age range of characters and the leads are fairly ageless so viewers won't grow out of it which is a danger in so many of the u35 romance movies HM produces. Also the the 'minimal' use of music fits well, proving that less is more - as Marta might say. Whilst some of the gardening scenes are a bit unrealistic timewise, it is defo a movie I'd watch again because despite the conflict it's very calming and inspiring.

Sara Rue is fantastic, and should be doing more Hallmark movies. Just hire some new writers. Rizzoli and Isles Jordan Bridges plays the exact same type of character that he did five months ago in Christmas in Holly Lodge, a developer who changes his mind because of a hot lady. An amazing find is Amy LoCicero. She's absolutely stunning.

Really Love Sarah Rue. This movie is cute, but so many people in it are such poor actors it makes it hard to watch. Sarah and Jordan are good but just not together. They just don't have that much chemistry. I think Hallmark is trying to push out so many movies that they are more interested in quantity and not quality. :(

"We have to save our" (fill in the blank). We have to have a demonstration and a protest. Too bad it fails. But meanwhile I'll fall in love with the greedy businessman. I am so tired of this trope. I have to admit the businessman was showing signs early on that he wasn't completely greedy. I want to say that Amy LoCicero as his girlfriend is the worst actress ever, but I suspect that was the way she was directed. Either way, she was too annoying to watch. The solution was obvious. And there were several clues along the way to help figure it out. I'd say the best way to watch this is to skip to right after the last commercial. Maybe just before that last commercial for the light bulb moment. Even that wasn't that outstanding.

I was so surprised to see so many half-hearted or outright negative reviews of this movie, as I absolutely loved it. This is a Hallmark movie after all, so there are some givens, and if you watch Hallmark movies, you know to expect them (interrupted first kiss, misunderstanding with 20 minutes to go, etc.) and just go with it. But the writer managed to make the Hallmark formula seem fresh and new. Yes, Chace is a developer who wants to tear down the garden. But he's not the usual hard-hearted corporate type who needs to be shown the light by the lady. He's a good guy with good intentions who believes in what he's doing and is helping a lot of people with his work. She gets to see that, even though it conflicts with what she wants. The dialogue was witty and fun, and the two leads had great chemistry producing some of the sultriest (in a Hallmark kind of way) moments ever in Hallmark history. This pairing is so natural together and work so well that I would love to see more of them, whether it be a sequel to this movie or just another movie where they work together. And going by the comments being made during the live tweet of the premiere, I'm not the only one who felt that way. This is my new favorite Hallmark Movie. I've already watched it twice and will be keeping it on my dvr until it comes out on dvd where it will promptly join my Hallmark collection. This movie is definitely a keeper. Just a really wonderful movie.

It took me a couple of minutes to get into it, but the story and the two main characters grew on me steadily. The script feels natural and all the actors reflect that same naturalness.

While the concept of a city garden is very appealing and noble, this movie exploited the idea in order to build a contrived romance around it. As a devoted Hallmark movie fan, this viewer was sorely disappointed in the predictable development of the plot. The leading man deserves tremendous credit and praise..He is a skilled actor..but then he does come from a long line of acting veterans..The Bridges family had given us some truly skilled stars. Jordan Bridges did his best with a formulaic, script and a leading lady who was too overpowering for this sensitive actor. The female lead did her best with the weak script, but, often, her thin voice interfered with the material she was given. She did her best in a role filled with lots of tears and anguish. The two older actors were almost cartoonish in their spats and rivalries, tomatoes versus peppers. One could have guessed how that relationship would evolve. This viewers wonders if Hallmark actually has a formula in place that requires each movie to have the 'interrupted first kiss', and the moment of a 'misunderstood hug' that leads to an unnecessary spat and separation. These formulaic and predictable parts of every Hallmark movie serve to trivialize any originality in the script..But perhaps this is what Hallmark viewers like about their movies. They are sweet stories, always end happily with a kiss, and always bring order to an otherwise chaotic world.
