All five stories are well written, well acted, and engaging. I won't go into what they are, but I will say that most of them end on a speculative note. Since each story is under a half hour long, most dump you right into the middle of the story and you have to figure out what's going on. That's not a bad thing. Each is titled with a year and a two word title. They are all good, and as recent Sci-Fi goes, they better than average. I've giving it one additional star to counter the one mixed review and the one bad review.

If you want to see real reviews for this, go look up AI tales which is what this was originally called. None of these stories go anywhere, and every single one of them stops right when you would actually want it to start. The last one especially was honestly the worst acting and writing I have just about ever experienced in all my years. And if you check my profile I've been here a really really long time. Just skip it.

5 Galaxies has five different science fiction stories in one film. Each segment is directed by a different creative talent, including Nelson Lee, Kristen Hilkert, Amir Reichart, Vitaly Verlov and Marc-Henri Boulier. It was originally released in 2018 as A.I. Tales. If any of the films feel disjointed, blame the lack of a narrative device to hold them all together and that many of them were short films released before they were collected here. Seed: Directed by Nelson Lee, an actor who has appeared in several films such as Disney's new live action Mulan, this story is all about a man undergoing a combination birthday party and living funeral, all so an overpopulated society can keep on surviving, ala Logan's Run. Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis in the Marvel movies, shows up here. IN/FINITE: This is the story of Jane, who decides to leave the Earth and her family behind as part of the Mars One Astronaut program. It's directed by Kristen Hilkert and co-written by its star Ashlee Mundy. Phoenix 9: This short was originally made by in 2014 and is directed by Amir Reichart. A post-apocalyptic tale, it was shot in the Glamis Dunes in California's Imperial Valley, which was a location used to create Tatooine in the original Star Wars. Redux: Originally made in 2015, this segment features Eric Roberts and is all about a scientist attempting to send a mission back in time before he is killed. It's directed by Vitaly Verlov, who often works in visual effects. New York 2150: This is the pilot episode of the New York 2150 series, which was written and directed by Harry Assouline. This is, as most modern portmanteaus are, a mixed bag. There are some interesting ideas, but I prefer Amicus style anthology movies that at least are moving toward one subject or conclusion.

While I will agree that there is NO "AI" stories, there are some thought-provoking and well acted short films. Some reviewers may have the incorrectly thought that these tales were somehow interconnected, that is not the case. Each story stands on its own in its own universe. The first film is a little head-scratch inducing, but plow through! 2nd story was a great character piece with a THUMP at the end. 3rd film made me angry as the REAL story starts where the film leaves off, (but I think that is fantastic!) 4th film begs for a deeper dive in to the universe it creates in the shortest run time of them all. Impressive, if you ask me, to create a world you desperately want to explore and do so in only a few minutes.

SKIP THIS: Acting, script, plots and film quality are all just "tolerable" to watch if you truly can't find anything else. I can not justify recommending any individual to spend their time viewing this.

Who green lit this piecs of crap?!? I saw little evidence of Artificial Intelligence in any of the plots but robots could certainly have written a better movie. There are better Sci-Fi shorts on YouTube, don't waste 80 minutes of you life watching a single second of this dumpster fire.

I watched this film under the title "5 Galaxies" as a Red Box rental. The production has 5 short science fiction features, most of which center on character and not plot as in most science fiction. They are not interlocking as described. The earth undergoes nuclear destruction in the third one and after that everything is fine. The shorts leave off where most of your classical science fiction gets going. PLOT SPOILERS ahead. The first feature was a "Logan's Run" wherein our overpopulated planet, people willingly step out at age 40. Interesting, but abortion and sterilization would be the first options. The second feature is about June, who is going somewhere and is saying good-bye to her family in 2071. It proves to be anti-climatic and stops where it should start and this stuff should be a flashback. The third episode is a post-nuclear attack in 2099. Survivors are attempting to get to a colony on the west coast. It too ends where the "Twilight" episode would start. The fourth one was quick. It takes place in 2121. The ICS lies and Eric Roberts was in it. Sorry, fast-forwarded. The last on is in 2150 as bounty hunters are looking for a man who can face shift. It too ends where it starts to get good. It looked like I was watching the first 15 minutes of various films. Not that fun. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

First 4 were great little shorts. Tightly scripted and well acted and kept me engaged. The fifth let the others down with poor script direction and acting.

A promising anthology, consisting of four shorts. Short stories have to be about the idea, but when the execution delays not only the twist, but also the idea, to a reveal at the end, then it could become a problem. Action works so much better than drama to get the story going, as the viewer needs a reason to care about the characters, fast. Segments Seed (2016) and IN/FINITE (2017) fall for that trap, by showing drama with people we're not invested in yet. Phoenix 9 (2014) is the best of the stories, with less drama and more action, and a dilemma ending. The last segment, Redux (2015) , is too short even for a short. Like someone shredded half the script - So many unanswered plot points prevent to make this a memorable story. Even famous face Eric Roberts can't save that. The sci-fi is light for the most part. The A.I. from the title wasn't the connecting element though, and plays no central role, so I found that to be a little misleading.
