If it's not broke-- Although I think Beeban is a great artist, I still feel Macguire should have directed the sequel. If you have listened to her commentary throughout Bridget Jones I, you will note how detail oriented she seemed to be and how she put her whole heart and soul into Bridget Jones I. Anyone know why the change in directors? Do you all want to see a Bridget Jones III? Who would you prefer to direct it? Macguire, Beeban or someone totally new? When asked if he would be interested in working on a Bridget Jones III, Colin Firth said that at the moment there was nothing more that he would rather not do. If there is a Bridget Jones III, I think I'd rather see a wedding that is almost called off and keeps the audience wondering if she ever will get hitched. Maybe show us her dealing and adjusting to married life and juggling new husband and career. I definitely wouldn't want to see her pregnant and dealing with babies.

THE EDGE OF REASON is an even worse film than the original, offering more of the same but in a lesser way. Gone is the novelty of the Bridget Jones character, replaced by a plot which feels like a weak retread of the first film's, and even unfunnier humour than before. If you like constant mugging and pratfalls from a character you're supposed to identify with and feel endearment for, then go for it. Personally, I'd rather stare at a brick wall for an hour and a half.

I loved this film. It took me out of my life for all of 110 minutes and I enjoyed every moment of it. Though it did seem to plod along in a few areas toward the end, for the most part the laughs flowed thick and fast for my friend and the packed audience I watched this with. It's been so long since I saw the first, but I think this sequel was even funnier. Renee Zellweger is adorable as Bridget Jones and the role fits her like a glove. Colin Firth does well as Mr Darcy and Hugh Grant returns as the sleazy slimeball Daniel Cleaver, a role he plays all too well. Personally I don't understand all the negative reviews this has been receiving here on IMDb.com and wonder if they saw the same movie?! It's not even a fraction as bad as they seem to make out. I highly recommend this flick to guys and girls alike.

OK. So, I've got a flu and my partner and the Dr both said I needed to stay in bed for about a week. Plenty of time for me to read and watch movies. Having watched and enjoyed Bridget Jones's diary a few times in the past, but always a guilty pleasure. I decided to give this sequel a go in the hopes that it might be as entertaining and genuine as the first movie but boy was I wrong. Upon watching this I got the feeling like they managed to create another version of Bridget that didn't have anything to do with the original character everybody fell for. A dumber, more insecure version. Devoid of the pseudo intellectual quirkiness that constituted the quintessence of Bridget Jones. And so we're left with a badly constructed one dimensional caricature of the former character so full of cliches that is unbearable to watch.

As a die hard, life long horror fan I rarely review romantic comedies, but I did enjoy the first movie so I looked forward to watching this, the first sequel. I thought it started off as good as the first, but sadly about halfway through it goes downhill ( in more ways than one!). Bridget and her boyfriend Mark Darcy go on a skiing trip to Europe and the film just descends into stupid slapstick. Then Bridget goes to Thailand, that too is equally silly. Thankfully things improve for the end but the damage had been done. Still offers some fun entertainment and Renee Zellweger puts in another excellent performance as Bridget but I wouldn't watch it again.

Renée Zellweger has done is again making Bridget Jones seem completely rational and irrational at the same time. Bridget shows all the women of the world that it is OK to show their wobbly parts and and get jealous over leggy brunettes that work too closely with her boyfriend Mark Darcy (Colin Firth.) Bridget being charismatic as ever jumps out of planes, skis badly, eats magic mushrooms, gets imprisoned, kisses a lesbian and still manages to walk into the sunset with prince charming. Keeping up with the first movie Bridget tries to lose weight and quit smoking after of course swearing off of men. With even more drama in this movie the comedy level is up to par with the first leaving Bridget wet, sharing her bra with Madonna loving cell mates and of course saying the worst possible thing at the wrong time. With her friends at her side and Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) attempting to rekindle romance the movie blossoms into a romantic-comedy that will surely to become a classic.

In my profile I wrote that I hate chick flicks. Most of my friends and family knows that as well. That's one of the reasons why I almost didn't watch the first "Bridget Jones". I was afraid it was all like, "GIRL POWER!" and "Did you ever know that your my herooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?" Yadda, yadda, yadda. But I finally gave in and watch the damn movie and I loved it. I had to see the sequel with my mom. We had such a great time watching this movie. The best thing about Bridget Jones is that you, if you are a woman, can relate to her. She's a real woman. Not like one of those perfect Denise Richards type who put on glasses and baggy clothing in movies and says that they are ugly. Bridget gives the full affect of what it is like being a woman in today's age. The pressure can be a bit unbearable. That's why I would I highly recommend the Bridget Jones movies. They are perfect for every woman. 10/10

It's actually quite sad how somebody can basically copy a great film that was Bridget Jones (some scenes are literally the same - same jokes, same motives - like poems on the boat or jokes about big pants) and still make it oh so bad... Not worth seeing. But do see Bridget Jones 3, that one was great

Although this movie is somewhat lacking in narrative substance, there is little in the way of subtext and back-story, and the cinematography is less than inspired, Renee Zellweger's performance as a charming, clumsy, slightly overweight guileless waif who strives vainly to be oh-so-sophisticated and sensible about love is genuinely emotionally engaging. She turns a basically two-dimensional character into one who really matters to us and with whom we can unashamedly identify. She brings to mind Audrey Hepburn's performance in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's not a great film by any means, but it is a film that made me feel happy and hopeful. And these days, that's saying quite a bit. But what do I know? I'm in love with Renee Zelweger.
