Solid cast? CHECK. Solid plot? CHECK. Solid political commentary? CHECK. Unexpected twists? CHECK. Solid irony? CHECK CHECK! The movie definitely leaves you hanging & with more than one question. "Are the stuck in a loop?" "How many times has this already happened?" A very interesting take on social & emotional issues that shows how each character is flawed & almost deranged. In some instances you'll catch yourself finding personality similarities within your personal life which goes to show how relatable the movie is. A few scenes had us bursting with laughter & sympathising with the characters. In short, not a movie to be missed.

One of the key script pivots in DEBORAH, just before the big Reveal (that the Alexa-like device can reverse time) is when one of the group of friends asks the others "What is it called when the thing is supposed to fix something else breaks?" The irony is that, presumably, the point of this film was to show that human beings are just clever animals who, in the right circumstances would revert to childish, unsuppressed, and impulse-driven behavior. That is a seriously ambitious goal for a low-budget indie with a small ensemble cast and a limited set--almost a stage play, really--and, in the opinion of this reviewer, it's a swing and a miss. Instead of using the "stop time" gimmick to advance the story, it is simply used to refresh the story whenever it goes over the top. Which it does a lot. It is the same difference between, for example, teaching someone to use a gun, or simply picking up a gun and shooting your student. Both teach you about guns. But in completely different ways. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." Please check out my list "167+ Nearly-Perfect Movies (with the occasional Anime or TV miniseries) you can/should see again and again (1932 to the present))

It allows you to do things according to your political bent. Hurt people hurt people. But you can't let the cycle continue because you can only hurt yourself. Political movies are nerve-racking. So is this thing where you need to write a whole bunch of characters until you feel a quota after the point has long been made. Not a movie worth seeing. Zeros are complementary below this post. In other words in other news Hypocrites are on the rise. Gamblers are going after people for gambling. Jealousy is rearing its ugly head. Some races are being made to divide and conquer because the perpetrators are insecure.

Nora (Sophia Bush), Frank (Arjun Gupta), Gabby (Ciara Renee), Chet (Scott Michael Foster), and Jim (Michael Waller) are all invited to a dinner party, hosted by their longtime friends, Ada (Deborah Ann Woll) and Al (Kevin Bigley). As things become more open, Ada and Al unveil their newest creation, 'Deborah' - an Alexa-style home assistant that can turn back time by up to 48 hours. The side effects? Residual emotional memories and glitches. Decently written script and acting! The premise is really well done, the flow is solid, and the music score is on point. The interpersonal relationships don't feel too artificial, but there are some points that make the narrative sound a lot like 'The Hunt' (2020), with over-the-top political commentary. Worth a watch!
