It's unique and creative but I felt terrible watching it the whole time. I kept watching hoping that the ending would redeem it somehow, but I can't help but feel like I just wasted two hours of my life in something that made me feel dirty and gross and depressed.

El Incident (2014) Two brothers are fleeing a police officer, taking the fire stairs of the building. But they will quickly realize that they have entered an endless loop. The situation, or rather the incident happens suddenly, and puts the characters in front of the accomplished fact. What will be interesting is how everyone will try to understand, and adapt. The situation can not hide its inspirations from "Lost" or "Twilight Zone". The repetitive structure allows each character to explore, and we see them cross their new looped world, all the while varying in attitude. Misunderstanding gives way to fear, then refusal, to finish on a kind of indifference. The film uses this structure to explore more profound themes. Each of the group has witnessed from the beginning of the death of a member of their group, and we see how each individual apprehend this shock. There are those who indulges towards the abandonment and deterioration; while others face the problems with a kind of stoicism, taking a repetitive lifestyle. It could thereby compare this attitude imposed on the character to a broader vision of life and society, each undergoing repetition days and social obligations and work. I was surprised to discover many aspects and facades to this film, the revelations of the third act force to bringing a second reading to what could have been a simple idea for a short film, but who finds here throwing theories forcing us to ask questions. The rate also contributes to the strength of this film. The elements being unveiled at the same pace as the characters discover them, alternating in a balanced manner between the two parallel stories. The end seemed accelerated as taken by his own ardor, and give me the impression of being slightly confused at first. To accompany this mystery, music is intense and mysterious. As for the actors, they are of good alois, express crises and fears, but I felt that they were only contented to shout, the parents and the police officer having somewhat the same personality. A well made movie, refreshing, and a stonishingly remaining in the head. 7.5 / 10

I park my car on the 8th floor of my apartment building's parking lot, and every morning I dread going down 8 levels just to get out into the street. I go floor after floor, driving slowly and carefully, trying not to lose my mind. But what if, after getting all the way to the bottom, I'd find myself again on floor 8? How would I react to an endless loop like that? That is the question that Isaac Ezban masterfully answers in The Incident. Everyone would probably react in different ways to being trapped like that, and in this movie, we get shown two different groups of people, and their different answers to that question. Some might keep their bodies fit and exercise, hoping to be ready when a way out is presented to them. Others might give up and let themselves go, wasting away as their minds slowly get lost to the slow passage of time. And that, in my opinion, is the beauty of this film. With an incredible attention to detail and a wild sense of imagination (What else can you do with an endless supply of water bottles?), Isaac Ezban gives us a glimpse into his mind. The way the confined environments change over time is fascinating, and how the characters make use of the limited amount of stuff around them is incredibly original. I highly recommend this movie. It will surprise you at every turn and give you a sense of claustrophobia, but in a good way. (At least you are not the one that is trapped). It succeeds in giving the spectator something that not many movies manage to do, by making us question ourselves by asking: What would we do?

Another piece of dreck promoted by Netflix. I was lured in by the 6 star rating, and started the movie with genuine anticipation. Less than 30 minutes in I got that sinking "have I been conned again?" feeling. The best part of the entire experience was reading the elaborate over-the-top sycophantic 9 and 10 star reviews, written to pad the ratings. I think the producer would have been better off hiring these writers to put the script together instead of the reviews. The result may have been some pseudo-Victorian / Shakespearean mishmash of convoluted hyperbole, but it would've been a hell of a lot more watchable. In short: you've been warned. It ain't worth it. Not even a little bit. If you want something well-executed with a not dissimilar sort of storyline, watch "The Endless" instead. . There's an example of a low budget but compelling film. Since not everyone here saw this movie on Netflix, I'll save this bit for the end, since it's no longer possible to express opinions on Netflix. This is the third movie in as many weeks suggested by Netflix that turned out to be not only bad, but INSULTINGLY bad. And I'm paying to see this?

The incident marks a before and an after in the modern Mexican cinema. For a long time I had to wait to see her and I finally had the opportunity to witness such a masterpiece. A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the beginning, and as it progresses it becomes increasingly incredible.Full of incredible performances that keep you in suspense, an incredible soundtrack that complements everything that happens on the screen. An ending that will make you feel the need to see her again. The best movie I've seen this year, and to be honest I can say it is also one of the best I've seen in my life. I can not wait to see his next film. The incident definitely becomes a movie that every science fiction fan should see.

A complex film made with ingenious low-budget production materials; excellent photography with thriller SCIFI script makes you live a never ending nightmare. I liked the production design , photography and of course the script . Mexican cinema continues to improve with these films . Most of the cast fits the role perfectly . Raul Mendez and Humberto Busto are excellent. Nailea still looks so young and fresh . His role in the film was powerful and full of emotion. I loved all the major players , their role in the film was emotional. spoiler alert: Besides the type " Twightligh zone" type of situation , the film deals with the idea of ​​" the only way out is to go ahead ", why people are condemned to repeat the same mistakes generation after generation at the dawn of their days.

"Knowledge is power but ignorance is bliss" These words can be a guide for the experience you live if you dare to enjoy the movie The Happening. Film by the director Issac Ezban which creates a multiverse which presents both claustrophobic and agoraphobic atmospheres with surreal and scatological overtones. If you feel seeing the film that is a chapter of Twilight zone or Lost this is because the director mentioned that these are your main inspirations and even makes them a tribute by reference. But this does not detract, however, makes the film more interesting and makes you want to continue the journey to the end. After you watch the film it is impossible not to refer to Groundhog day (1993) by Harold Ramis and Inception (2010) Nolan because if we add to this amalgam a Kafkaesque touches the result could well be the incident. Like all independent production is very difficult to be projected at first in theaters, wait to be seen at special functions and festivals. When I was in DF try to get tickets for the few functions that existed in the Cineteca Nacional and these were exhausted. Which made my desire to see it rise. It was thanks to Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) in this its 30th edition; where they would make a unique presentation and that was where I was able to enjoy it. And not only that there were also a plus. A presentation with the director and cast at a session of questions and answers, all this at the end of the function. The wait was good, it was the best he had no great expectations and these were overcome by the written and presented on screen for Issac Ezban history. In words of the director this summer Incident projects in commercial cinemas so it is a good opportunity to see an original story and gain entry to dream worlds where the only way out is to move forward.

Upon his debut, Isaac Ezban's magnum opus "The Incident", dares to reveal the fearful mental machinery in which we find ourselves trapped in each and every one of the stages of life. Its almost as if, with absolutely no control, a supernatural force would require to produce energy by means of a factory of repetitive patterns, that provides for movement in our actual life, and where the only way out is to keep going... "The Incident" outlines the possibilities we are constantly provided, to chose whether or not to make use of the resources that such factory provides for us, in order to achieve more enabling stories that reflect a better energy for real life, and therefore better life stories, notwithstanding the fact that there will always remain limits to creation, to old age... Brilliant, challenging, crude, creative, and with sound imagery that is perfectly aligned with the emotional experience generated by the story behind "The Incident", reminding us of the inevitable returns of who we really are, and the challenging yet intoxicating temptation to change... I highly recommend it!!

Winner of the most amazingly bizarre and wonderful movie I've ever seen. Since always, the fact of time and how opportunities come and go seemed to be a mystery to me, not the definitions themselves - those are pretty clear- but how we spend them or, rather say, waste them. Like Oliver's brother said, "we spend our lives waiting for the end of the day and another to come so we can end the stage where we are and it will finally get better; but when it comes, we realize that yesterday was much better and that, unfortunately, we can't return it". The Incident has left me with a very good taste, with so many questions but mostly a lot of answers; and with the beating conclusion that the moments are so fleeting that we must enjoy every single one, we don't know from what circumstances are our parallel "I's" coming through – an infinite railway, an endless road or a hall with no last– so we can stay where we're at. Ezban is now one of my favorite persons in the world, I've had the pleasure to see him at the Cabo Film Fest and, what a paradox, I wasted the chance to take a picture with him. Anyways, this film is a representation of the sacrifices you have to do to live life as you've imagined it. Can't wait to see Isaac's future films, this one is from afar a pretty cool full of metaphors movie!
