Dolph, Dolph, Dolph...why did you bother with this? No continuity, the scenes jumps from one locale to another. Your partner insults real DEA agents with his comedic efforts at being an agent. The last scene where the bad guy hot wire a car, can you still do that nowadays? What little we saw of you was okay except the fight scenes where you are noticeably slower now. The rest of the cast were really bad. Most of them couldn't act out of a paper bag. I was in agony throughout but kept watching expecting it to get better. My last film to watch with your name connected with it. just like any film with the Baldwin brothers or Eric Roberts, I know the film is going to s**k!

Actually, director Giorgio Serafini's actioneer "Ambushed" isn't a bad little B-movie. You've got three reasons to watch this crime melodrama: Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones, and Randy Couture. Of course, Austin's screenplay is hopelessly formulaic exercise in illegal drugs, corrupt cops, and hard-as-nails criminals. Dolph is a veteran DEA agent; Vinnie is a well-dressed criminal gone AWOL from a Guy Ritchie gangster saga, and Randy is a gritty cop on the take. These guys are the main attraction of"Ambushed" and they do what they do best. They kick butt, curse profanely, and strike tough guy poses. Otherwise, Serafini has done a low-budget Guy Ritchie thriller in Los Angeles that benefits from good casting and convincing performances. The secondary leads who are really the protagonists are a pair of youngsters: Frank (Daniel Bonjour) and Eddie (Gianni Capaldi) are up-and-coming cocaine dealers that want to break into the big time. Frank knocks off a couple of coke dealers who work for menacing top thug Vincent Camastra (Vinnie Jones of "Snatch"), and dirty cop Jack Reiley (Randy Couture of "The Expendables") was in cohoots with the two drug dealers. Frank emerges as a quasi-Guy Ritchie villain and he provides momentary narration, while the double-crosses and triple-crosses in the underworld smacks of Quentin Tarantino's movies. The dialogue is serviceable and the big drug bust at the end resembles a watered down version of "True Romance." All and all, "Ambushed" is a tolerably potboiler with a robust cast, brooding atmosphere, and bang-bang action. Bonjour and Capaldi make a charismatic couple of goons.

Or how about the German title "Thrill to Kill"? Yes another title change that is just hilarious. Unfortunately that title is the only thing that is really worth anything. Unless you are in it for the nudity and some of the nice effects when it comes to the scenes with violence. Couture tries his best and might be the best thing here, but that still isn't enough to excuse watching this. Even if you have a heart for B-movies and or Dolph Lundgren (he's not a main character here, but he can be seen a couple of times), this might be worth a look, but overall it does not qualify your time and money to waste and watch it.

"We're businessmen not junkies. We control this world or at least I thought so." Agent Maxwell (Lundgren) is finally about to reach the center of an international cocaine smuggling ring run by Vincent Camastra (Jones). When his partner Agent Royce gets in over her head it is up to Maxwell to get her out and bring the criminals to justice before it's too late. Dolph Lundgren is an actor who started off with a bang (Rocky 4) then slowly started to fade into straight to DVD movies. Most of them are slow, boring and unnecessary. While this one is nothing amazing or original it was entertaining and better then most of his movies. In between the cookie cutter plot there are some actual interesting dialog and borderline social commentary that makes you think. That is not something you would expect from a Lundgren movie. There really isn't much else to say about this, if you've seen one you've seen them all. On the other hand this is better then most of his, which may be because he isn't in it that much. Overall, Lundgren fans will like this. I give it a B-.

Since I am Swedish I try to keep myself updated when it comes to my fellow Swedes' new Movies, especially Dolph Lundgren, and thus I watched this one as soon as I could. Admittedly, Dolph may have his best years behind him. Still, he has worked with most of the creme de la creme within the action genre, i.e. Brandon Lee, Stallone, Van Damme. To his defence, perhaps he is not handed the best of scripts these Days. I would gladly Watch Men of War, Rocky IV, Universal Soldier, Johnny Mnemonic, Red Scorpion again. Plot: A scarface duo try to move up the ladder. One is uncertain if he really wants to and is involved with a sweet girl and really wants to do something else. Unfortunately for them they are preyed upon by a rogue cop and hunted by the DEA. Sadly, this Movie lacks true depth. I could tell that the writer tried really hard to create depth and credibility for his characters. Instead he fails miserably and all the characters get stuck halfway. Dolphs character has an unexplored relationship with Another DEA agent, one of the bad guys (who really is the Movies hero) cannot deliver a believable characterization of a guy in torment about what to do in Life. The Dirty cop succeeds somewhat better, but the best characters, which do not have any depth to speak of, are the drug kingpin and the hero's partner. Due to this fact that the script tries too much to be a Little bit deeper than most B-Movies and lacks, as well, a really likable hero I can only hand out... ...4 out of 10. Dolph does not deliver, but is excused by having a minor role and the bad script. However, there are some good Points in the Movie: Randy Couture is good as the Dirty cop and the final shootout scene is pretty good as well as the photography.

Fancy Screen Splitting and a goodly Amount of Gangster Violence can't really Save the Awful Acting and Worn Out Familiarity Found in this, yet Another, DTV, Bargain-Bin come-on Sporting Three Recognizable Expendable Type Actors Highlighting the Packaging. It is No Surprise that the Focus of the Movie is more on Two Twerp Leads that are Awkward and Embarrassing most of the Time, especially Our "Henry Hill" like Narrator that Tells the Audience everything They already Know from Seeing Dozens of similar and Better Movies. The Side Plot of Our Anti-Hero and His Cute and Naive College Girlfriend is Boring and so Badly Written and Acted that the accompanying Writing and Acting can Appear Acceptable. Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones, and Randy Coulter are the Money Magnets for this Slick but Ultimately Doomed DTV. The Two Lead Actors are so Irritating and Dull that Mentioning Their Names is a Credit Undeserving, Ditto the Girlfriend. However, for Those that Like Cheap Thrills and have a High Tolerance for Ineptitude, this may be Worth a Watch. The Gun Violence is the Best Thing in this Thing, so for Those with a Gun-Fetish, this one's For You.

I found this movie enjoyable, all around as it was delightfully bad, and that is good because no one watched this movie and expected a Coppola film or anything like that...to say there "is also a lot of pointless and contrived nudity, swearing, and poorly done scenes of people getting shot." Is like watching a cartoon and saying it's animated. The actors are mostly unknown aside from Couture and Lundgren and the director is someone I have never heard of. The visual effects and make-up don't suck, so I am guessing all of the budget went to the two stars and the effects and make-up department. Anyone who watches this film and can't appreciate it for what it is, should really lighten up...there is no deep story, it is just an action movie.

This is a straight forward crime/drama/thriller/action film. The talents of Dolph Lundgren are under utilized. Oh wait he does rough up a guy for information...only to brush him off and let him go. We needed Dolph for this? They could have used Betty White. The sound track was pretty decent and of course Vinnie Jones does a good job in his limited role. The main problem with this feature was that Frank, the main character, was not someone we could root for. About 1/3 of the way through the film he gives a useless narration on the drug industry and the economy which never really ties into the film. A lower tier rental. Dolph fans can skip this one and not miss anything. Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity.
