The storyline of this movie is just good, and the acting is also good. However, the acting could be more interesting. Secondly, I have already watched Karthikeya 2 so my expectation was quite high.

After the big success of Karthikeya-2, many Hindi film viewers were prompted to watch part 1 of the series. On hearing its good reports, I also watched the prequel of this hit Telegu supernatural thriller on Amazon prime. The film is un-available in Hindi language but the decent English subtitles made the film quite relatable. The film is about the central character Karthikeya who is the young Indian version of Indiana Jones kind character who is interested in solving mysteries. This lands him in a temple town which is in news and mystery. How he gets into trouble and how he solves it all makes the film very interesting. In Indian films, we have had films based on mythology meet the modern era including Hindi ones like Rudraksha, Naksha and a lot of south Indian films. However, Karthikeya's approach is very fresh and it manages to keep the film very engaging. The film has suspense, mythology, history, a bit of horror(like Ramsay's film) and mystery and does justice to all genres. A very tight screenplay and crisp editing make the film nail-biting and entertaining as well. The lead actor Nikhil is in great form and fits the role to the T! A well-made thriller with all elements of mystery and mythology well adapted!!

Karthikeya, a supernatural suspense thriller, has all the right elements to make this movie a super hit. The screenplay is a major plus as every dialogue and every scene had a purpose. It is directed in such a way where things are slowly unraveling allowing the audience to enjoy the whole ride. The camera angles really add to the mystery by allowing the audience to keep guessing what is happening. The songs add to the flow, instead of distracting the audience.

The movie gets to the plot point only after 30 minutes. Till then, there were only fillers and unnecessary scenes. The heroine character is not at all needed. There were many logical flaws. But, its a good thriller overall.

Watched Karthikeya 1 yesterday. Could not tolerate for more than an hour. What a bad film. Nothing was good. Maybe, I will give 2.5/5 for the story but apart from this, a third class B grade movie it was. Full of unnecessary songs. Totally unnecessary presence of the heroine. A typical Ramsay sort of thriller and comedy horror till first 30 40 mins with random scenes with no connection at all. Maybe, because it was a 2014 movie but the execution looked too poor. Acting was horrible. Hindi dubbing was okayish. If this movie is awaited, I will happily ignore the first part. Intolerable for any movie buff. 3.4/10.

There's nothing to like in the film. Bad acting, full of cliché moments, so many loopholes and most importantly unnecessary and unaffective comedy dialogues. Still couldn't stop the film in between only because of the mystery. I'll say the film is bad. After finishing the first part, I had no interest in watching part 2, but had to because of its amazing responses. Now, no doubt part 2 is far better than part 1 but still can't say that it's brilliant. Only because of the mythological reference I was watching till the end, otherwise I would stop it in between. While watching this type of films we audiance should surprise in moments, but I had the same expression from beginning to end of the film. Only good thing I found in part 2 is the scenes with Anupam Kher. Finally, maybe this genre is not for me or it's really not a very good film, I don't know. I can say now that i have watched a real movie and best direction with a heart touching story Thank you director and actor for this gift for all hindu love you guys.

Built up was good.. but poor ending.. could have been much better...vfx not much but poor .. end has spoiled experience. ... movie is around 2 hrs.. could have been even shorter...it feels bad to see such below par ending.
