I wasn't expecting much given some of the reviews on here but this is a pretty entertaining film. Yes it's not original. Yeah it reuses a load of ideas and I felt like i had seen this before but there's a bit of body horror, a bit of gore and a few jump scares. Not the greatest horror film ever made but no way near as bad as some of the reviews. Worth watching.

This film starts off with a hooker having sex with various clients, including a rape Then she is seen pregnant, stabbing herself to death in the stomach. Move on 23 years and her daughter Helen is experiencing horrific visions, plus much physical horror. Canada does have a history of body horror and this is no exception: spewing long, black hair, self mutilation, pulling skin off. Etc. Very graphic. Japanese horror is also very evident in the form of a ghastly female with long, dark hair. If you like graphic horror then this does not disappoint. The only things that I didn't like were that the two female lead characters looked too similar, and the ending was slightly poor. Sadly the latter is quite common with 21st century horror movies.

I would probably not have bothered with this film, but a good friend REALLY wanted to see it, so we went and checked it out. At this point in modern film-making, there is nothing new under the sun...especially in the "Horror genre"...sadly that is also true of this title. The plot has been done before in 2009's "The Unborn" more or less, but this run through has 2 twin sisters, rather than a boy and a girl. The beginning is OK, there does seem to be a supernatural basis to the origin of the individual who gets the ball rolling in the first 5 mins (pun intended), but this element is never really pursued again; if at all...then only in the final 20 minutes, but it is never specifically mentioned as such...merely by assumption. There are your compulsory characters that serve no purpose other than to die! Obligatory annoying individuals who you wish would die (some do thankfully), littered throughout, along with the typical in the social media/see short attention span modern age; jump cuts that make up for not having sensible transition scenes between main scenes. To be fair the editing is probably the best part of this film, so they at least did a competent job of splicing all the celluloid together (if they even still do that?). The acting is passable in the main. The 2 female leads do OK, but their friendship being not quite sisters/not quite lovers/who knows what, really fails to convince and you can almost see them switching out of character before the director yells "CUT!" in a handful of scenes. I had to laugh where she ties herself up thinking it will stop her nocturnal antics; as if she tied herself up...by definition she can untie herself!...Anyway if she was serious in any way about protecting those around her, she would have asked to be committed/observed...I mean seriously; the operation was in a couple of days for Christ sake! The ending is totally predictable, by 25 minutes in you know the next hour is a formality. There is no 1 memorable scene unless you like freakish transformation effects (barely there tbh), and I cannot think why anyone would want to see this more than once...so buying on DVD is a non-starter. With so many other horror titles available, including a back catalogue of quality films from 60s/70s/80s, it is hard to recommend this film for any particular reason. If you're watching cable TV late and are too lazy to reach for the remote...check it out...Maybe!

There is something interesting about how this one progresses, as we have that feeling of mystery in the way it is taken. Alanna LeVierge does a great job here as the protagonist on whom the movie is focused as the others just becomes random additions in comparison - she surely makes us feel the protagonist's pain and sadness, and it is something which is not that common among these horror movies which are rather less noticed. The movie also has its scares, and with a dark setting, and with the protagonist having to face all these alone, there is the certainty of terror. A horror movie with an emotional side is nice - they never really try to develop on that situation of no hope though. There are also those moments which make us wonder if it is all in the mind - that is also a probability in these kinds of movies, isn't it? At least up-to an extent - after all, there was a trauma there. There should be a day when these lesser known, lower budget horror movies should rise above the big ones. Let Her Out is the flick that will have enough for most people looking for more horror fun, as evil once again finds a way. A girl prostitutes herself out of the Gemini Motel in Toronto. She is brutally raped and gets pregnant. She ends up stabbing herself in her belly. Twenty three years later, bike courier Helen and her best friend Molly are at the same motel when Helen gets hit by a car. As she recovers, she suffers from visions and experiences. This small Toronto indie horror seems to touch on many of the horror tropes. The problem is that it never settles on one. It does plenty of stuff. There are some good body horrors. The actress is workmanlike. It has some good functional camera work. All the good work can't distinguish it from any number of other indie horrors. It's hard to care about her story.

Wasn't expecting much but hell this film turned out to be quit a ride. The story isn't really exceptional, twin sister 'lives' in the body of her sister and tries to get out, but it's told in a rather exciting way. Vivid colors, good editing, nice soundtrack: for those who loves their horror films to be a visual trip: this one is a feast. But also the story, a kind of schizophrenic Doctor Jekyl and Mister Hide history, is good enough to keep this film rolling. A good and inventive horror film, as it should be.

The film opens at the Gemini Motel, Room 2, Toronto. Brooke Henderson plays a prostitute who is not into her work. In fact she takes payment after services are rendered which must be a Canadian thing, as "money up front" is the unwritten rule. After a few tricks, we see her take a scissors to her stomach. Flash forward to Helen (Alanna LeVierge) who was in her womb at the time. Helen has an accident and gets conked on the head. She starts to act strange and is diagnosed with a rare fetus in fetu...a fetus is growing in her brain putting pressure on the part that makes her do crazy things...a twin that was absorbed into her head. Oh wait Gemini...room 2 ...how clever was that? The film keeps you engaged for most of it. The explanation causes it to drag a little even as there is blood everywhere. The last motel room scene was excellent on the special effects except they stopped short and opted for hiding camera angles after giving us so much. A facial close up would have made the film. What if you woke up from a bike accident and the doctor tells you they found something growing inside you? That's the inciting incident of this excellent film. A twist on the evil twin genre, Alanna LeVierge takes us on a terrifying journey while she experiences her died-at-birth- twin growing inside her. We see how her life and her friends are affected as she spins more and more out of control until the shocking ending. great Acting Alanna LeVierge, Nini Kiri, great Cinematography Jeff Maher, great music by Steph Copeland under the inspired direction of Cody Calahan. This is one for the millennials:- Vivid, electrifying, and shocking. Black Fawn Films are the masters of scare this Halloween.
