...for another feature from auteurs Holland and Mitton, the guys who brought us YellowBrickRoad. They've upped their game for this paranormal quest tale, despite it still being another low budget affair. An effective Annette "Smallville" O'Toole lends name recognition, but protagonist Clark "YellowBrickRoad" Freeman carries his weight with assurance, along with the likes of John "Smallville" Glover, Giovanna "On the Road" Zacarías, and the rest of a solid ensemble. The writing is trim and tight, the story well thought out, the score appropriate. Indies of this sort usually fall apart at some point, but this one doesn't. Definitely one of the better sleepers I've found at the library in recent memory. No ground-breaker, but still solid genre entertainment.

Holy hell dude..... I finally found a great horror movie! Lil slow at first but wow! I love the premise of the movie and all its twists and turns. I personally think it's keeps you interested the entire movie. I have no clue why this movie isn't more popular. Extra bonus points if you wear headphones like I did thru it. I had so much anxiety and I watch horror movies non stop. Don't watch the trailer first! It's so much better bc it kinda shows some things that's better to see as the movie progresses.

Our main character / man-child Miles wants to find evidence of life after death and is offering 30k to whom ever can prove it to him. Interesting premise, with terrible execution. I'd say 60 of the 89 minute runtime must be our protagonist starring off blankly into the distance. And he's got some serious parental dependency, I half-expected him to answer his phone "Yes, mommy?" At any given time. Movie gets 1 star for decent camera work on a very low budget. Otherwise, it's by-the-numbers "cut to screaming ghost" shots in an attempt to be scary. It's not. Random loud noises stopped being scary when I turned 4.

The movie is "We Go On"(2016) Directed by Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton. Jesse Holland wrote the story and Mitton the Screenplay. Spoiler Alert, I will be talking plot details, I liked it, If you can see it, do so and then read my review. Strong acting is the trump card here. but there are many high cards in this deck. Clark Freeman plays Miles, a young man who has given over his life to seek proof of "after death" experiences. His Mother played by Annette O"Toole. is overly protective, while her son is such a wreck, suffering from panic attacks he is not even able to drive. They live in LA. The opening comes across as a Paranormal Search, with the son putting up a large amount of cash to anyone who could show him a true supernatural experience. In Ernest they seek out leads. The Mother plays Myth buster to a slew of convincing but fraudulent response's to Miles' offer. One however, Josephine played by Giovanna Zacarias, might have merit, The director as if in homage to the classic Hollywood conventions of every Polterguiest styled ghost movies, There is always a special medium who is the one, in a hokey garb, who sees the whole picture. Giovanna turns the cliché on its ear, You don't even think about it, watching her perform. Another outstanding performance is by Jay Dunn playing Nelson, a drug addled civil service worker who works by the Airport. Nelson is responsible for the pivotal twist in the movies plot. The theme goes from the Searchers, to the possessed. I. like the look of this film, shot on location around Los Angeles, without ever hitting anything more than a freeway shot of the city in the distance. None the less it is grounded in location. There was a grit to the story that came off as real, It had the feel of Jacobs Ladder (1990) I like the editing, the build up to the real shocking moments creep up without fanfare, and snap like a mousetrap, The move does not pander to ghost story conventions. The film takes on a "Sixth Sense" feel for its final act. The Director slyly paid homage to the gory "Hellraiser"(1987)as well, with a clever bit of "ghost hunters" exposition. Here, the "surprises" are truly surprising. Good Cinematography, Music and sound and lighting. Four "Keeper's" Stars out of Five.

A gem indeed it is, and my only reason for rating it a 9 rather than a 10 is due to the fact that it's not really a horror film, per se.. and I suppose that's wrong of me to deduct points because I feel as though it doesn't fit into my personal favorite genre, that of horror.. There's only one film, ever, that I've even rated as being a "10", and though I don't rate this as the perfect 10, it is nonetheless one great effing movie! It was from start to finish captivating, and it did run the entire gamut in evoking every emotion possible..yes, even having its heart pounding, tense filled moments of fear, and anticipation, that I do love so very much that comes in watching damn good horror films, and hey, let's face it, at this point in time the good, great, and epic horror films seem to be only a thing of the past(with a very scarce few that I stumble upon once every couple of years).. So, while this isn't one of those hidden gems of the horror genre, it is without doubt a hidden gem of a film, period. In all honesty its irrelevant as to what genre it "should" be classified in, but rather just appreciate it for what it is, and nothing more..that being a film that stirs emotion from within, and pours out as the movie progresses, climaxes, and swiftly concludes at precisely just the right moment, going out on a feel-good-high-moment. Not what I'm typically drawn to, seeing as how I love good horror films, but this film is worthy of a huge wide release to the masses. Genre junkies, non-genre junkies, casual viewers, and cinephiles, alike will enjoy the hell out of this film. If, and when, you have the chance, watch it!

The structure of the script is quite good. The acting is overall very good, though the lead is a bit monotone. It's hard to play someone who is depressed and quiet and not have it be a bit dull or repetitive to watch and that's what happens here. So we, the audience know, from the title and from our expectations that there will be some kind of supernatural elements to the film. So eventually this turns into a "I see dead people" type of film. And that's where it starts to have problems. The problem is the more dead people we, and he see, the less impact they have. So the second half of the film unwinds a bit instead of picking up. Still it's an excellent working out of the idea as a script, if not delivered in a perfectly scary way. Sad to say it could have used better direction. Perhaps having two directors dilutes a more powerful execution, or perhaps a short shooting schedule or other issues prevented totally delivering on the potential of each scene so they all ad up to a good movie. Also it could use a better overall look. It lacks a creepy vibe and atmosphere as a whole. It could have just turned into schlock which, though perhaps more exciting, in a routine kind of way, would have been too bad. O Toole is excellent as the mom, as is John Glover--an actor who can ham it up too much--in a smaller role. Nice use of a real Los Angeles abandoned location near the Airport and large-in-scope film. It's too bad it isn't better than it is as a whole but it could have been so much worse.

Very low budget and extremely disappointing film that offers the premise of a good story but gives you precious little.Looks like it was shot on video. A complete waste of the talents of Annette O'Toole and especially John Glover.I wonder if i watched the same film that other reviewers praise here, because i can't see it. This is a poor film, not scary, not moving, not much of anything.

I saw their film YELLOWBRICK ROAD on cable a few years ago, loved, bought the DVD and have watched it several times. It really holds up! I was so glad to see WE GO ON because these guys have so much original talent in the story department. That's where it all begins, and once they nail that, they go for the actors and when come together, then the audience is fortunate to enjoy a terrific, creative film. This is one of those films you should go into not knowing much about it, then sit back and go along for the ride. The story involves some "rules" about haunting and the dead and the afterlife, but it also deals with grief, faith and the uncertainty of relationships. Each of these emotional beats is touched on with an outstanding cast that delivers on the promise of the premise. I look forward to the next project from these guys! Until then, add YELLOWBRICK ROAD and WE GO ON to your must see list.

Seriously, this movie is good. And I mean damn good. I can barely say anything without spoiling it but really give it a go, you wont regret it. The story is very original, the plot is intriguing and the movie is full of surprises. I can honestly say that I was positively surprised by this movie. Great writing, acting and effects.
